homework!!!! This is TOP on my list... WHY?!?! I just don't get the point of 4 pages of math, a fluency page to teach the kids to read way too fast and they sound like they can't read, Internet spelling and math (so I have to share my computer), reading AR books that they don't like and then taking another Internet test (my kid LOVES to read but AR makes him hate it), writing a book report after the test (every night) and Voc words!!!! Ya, that is one night of 3rd grade HW and that includes lots of tears and yelling... NOT WORTH IT! I would rather spend my time teaching my kids music, arts and crafts, cooking and sports because there is no longer funding for any of these things at school. So do away with homework and let me teach my kids things at home when they get home not do a bunch of BUSY WORK that makes us ALL CRAZY!!!!

Love it. I was feeling the homework thing last night as I was trying to get Ashley to finish the loooonnnnnggg list of things that she had to have completed in her packet. Of course we never got to the piano to practice but my goodness they never get a break which means...we never get a break!
I am right there with you. That's waaaayyy to much homework. Just because they are in the GATE program shouldn't immediately mean more work. You're right, it's NOT worth it!
I absolutely feel you on this stuff. I hate homework and AR is added pressure around here too! 3rd grade was rough! I also hate working out all the time to be fat! My sisters are like sz 0. You are not fat at all by the way.
