I have just returned from the Prop 8 broadcast. I felt it was a call for us to circle the wagons. We only have a few weeks until voting day and we need to educate as many of or friends and family as we can about this important issue. I am surprised when I speak with friends how many do not realize the far reaching effects this could have on our children, educational system, medical practices and churches. Six Consequences if Proposition 8 Fails:
1. Children in public schools will be taught that both traditional marriage and same-sex marriage are okay. The California Education Code already requires that health education classes instruct children about marriage (§51890). Therefore, if the definition of marriage is changed, children will be taught that marriage is a relation between any two adults. There will be serious clashes between the secular school system and the right of parents to teach their children their own values and beliefs.
2. Churches will be sued if they refuse to allow same-sex marriage ceremonies in their religious buildings that are open to the public. Ask whether your pastor, priest, minister, bishop, or rabbi is ready to perform such marriages in your chapels and sanctuaries.
3. Religious adoption agencies will be challenged by government agencies to give up their long-held right to place children only in homes with both a mother and a father. Catholic Charities in Boston have already closed its doors because of the legalization of same-sex marriage in Massachusetts.
4. Religions that sponsor private schools and which provide housing for married students will be required to provide housing for same-sex couples, even if it runs counter to church doctrine, or lose tax exemptions and benefits.
5. Ministers who preach against same-sex marriages will be sued for hate speech and could be fined by the government. It has already happened in Canada--one of six countries that have legalized gay marriage.
6. It will cost you money. A change in the definition of marriage will bring a cascade of lawsuits. Even if courts eventually find in favor of a defender of traditional marriage (highly improbable given today’s activist judges), think of the money – your money, your church contributions – that will have to be spent on legal fees. And think of all the unintended consequences that we cannot even foresee at this time. Where will it end?
It’s your children, your grandchildren, your money, and your liberties at stake. Let's work together to protect them. Join with us in walking precincts and phoning voters to vote YES on Prop 8.
Tonight we decorated our pumpkins. We stopped carving pumpkins a few years ago. I just don't like the mess and the knives around the kids... so we used glow in the dark stickers this year. The kids had a lot of fun creating their pumpkins. Before you feel too bad for my kids being robbed of the pumpkin carving expereince I will let you know that Carli carved a pumpkin and cooked the seeds at preschool this week. Gotta love preschool... they can deal with the mess:)
Today we had our 4th annual Music Makers Halloween party in the park. It was so much fun to see all the little ones dressed up! Carli decided to go dressed like her Barbi. For the first time she actually asked me to do her hair. She wanted it like her Barbi's hair. I did my best. It was a fun afternoon and I think the kids enjoyed the cake walk and the Trick or Treating. 
Happy Birthday to the MAN I LOVE! Your 33 today and I really believe men get better with age:) There are so many things I love about you but here is the "short list"
Last night we went to Disneyland for Mickey's Halloween Time. It has become one of our traditions. The kids LOVE it and I have to admit it is a great time! The whole park is transformed to very kid friendly halloween themes and there are candy stations for the kids to trick or treat at. Jeremiah our Jedi was on a candy mission! He is at the age were trick or treating is serious business. Carli AKA princesses Leia (SP?) was enchanted by all the lights and decor. Bryce the skeleton man enjoyed suckers, M&Ms and music. He was walking and dancing all around the park. The best part is that Daddy got to get off work a little early and met us down there. We had such a wonderful time! I love seeing the holidays through my children's eyes.
I have been trying out different things all week with photoshop. I have finally figured out how to make collages which may be easy for some but proved a huge undertaking for me. I have also figured out how to make digital scrapbook pages and I might even make my own Christmas card this year... if I can keep going on no sleep. I think I went to bed around 2am all week and would get up for a 3am feeding with the baby and then up again at 5:30 to run! I think I am may be going a little crazy... it is addicting!
We have this wonderful pumpkin patch near our home were you can actually pick the pumpkins off the vine. I love it and so do the kids. We were in search of the "great pumpkin" as Carli named it and we found four of them. Bryce enjoyed crawling through the dirt, leaves, hay and pumpkins! He used the pumpkins for drums and tried to snack on the leaves. He was so dirty that he left a ring in my tub that night LOL Carli had a great time running through the pumpkins hiding from Dad. She would squeal with delight every time he caught her. Jeremiah found his perfect pumpkin and some hot kettle corn for the ride home. All in all a perfect pumpkin pick'n day!
